Job Fairs

The NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development maintains a statewide listing of job fairs, and many of these are in the Atlantic City area. Information about local job fairs may be found at One-Stop websites as well. When going to a job fair remember to dress for success, bring several copies of your resume (if appropriate), a pen, and be ready to be interviewed. Job Skills Workshops

The Paterson Community Development, Division of Housing provides residents with advocacy and referrals in regards to emergency rental assistance, food, housing, employment, legal help, and literacy. This office also maintains a listing of jobs and apartments in the local area. You can find out more information about these services by visiting their website. 

Jewish Family Service and Children's Center of Clifton - Passaic has a program called Project Chizuk. This is an employment assistance program for individuals who are unemployed or experience financial hardships. Learn more about the program and services offered by visiting their website

New Jersey MentalHealthCares Helpline

The Mental Health Association in New Jersey operates the New Jersey MentalHealthCares Helpline. The Helpline serves as a gateway to clinical outpatient mental health and addiction services as well as inpatient substance use disorder services for survivors of Superstorm Sandy. Retail workers who were recently laid off are also eligible for these services. Callers may receive supportive counseling, crisis assessment and intervention, and when needed connection to appropriate resources and services.

Stress can surface in many forms and often appears weeks or months after a traumatic event. It may include anger, fatigue, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, nightmares, depression, inability to concentrate, hyperactivity and/or increased alcohol or drug use. If you or someone you know is experiencing distress or feeling overwhelmed by painful emotions related to recent events, call the New Jersey MentalHealthCares' Disaster Helpline: 866.202.4357 (HELP). A TTY line is available at (877) 294-4356. Translation services are available as well.

Self-Help Groups
The New Jersey Self-Help Group Clearinghouse is a program of New Jersey Mental Health Association that has been helping people find local, New Jersey community-led support groups, national self-help headquarters, local self-help group clearinghouses, national and international resources, online, telephone and one-of-a-kind support groups, as well as other national networks since 1980.

The Liberty Humane Society offers a variety of services for pers and their owners throughout the state of New Jersey. Services include pet adoption, low - cost preventive care for pets, spay and neuter services, pet food and supplies for owners/families in need, and animal foster care.
