Foster Grandparent Program

Service Description:

The Foster Grandparent Program provides volunteer opportunities for limited-income seniors to help children with special needs. Foster Grandparents work in day care centers, elementary schools, Head Start programs, alternative schools, and at other community agencies providing one-on-one academic and emotional support to children who have been abused, have physical or developmental disabilities, or are in need of additional assistance. All volunteer Foster Grandparents receive a modest tax-free payment for a minimum of 15 hours of service each week, a free/reimbursed meal, free transportation, and paid training.

Eligibility:

Open to Montgomery County residents, ages 55 and older. Applicants must also be at or below income requirement and enjoy working with children.
