Personal Assistance Services (PASP)

Agency: NJ Division of Disability Services
Service Description:

Personal Assistance Service Program (PASP) provides routine, non-medical assistance to adults with physical disabilities who are employed, preparing for employment, involved in community volunteer work, or attending school.

Personal assistants help with tasks such as light house keeping, bathing, dressing, preparing meals, shopping, driving or using public transportation. The number of hours of help that a person receives depends on individual need -- up to 40 hours per week.

This program differs from many other personal assistance services programs, in that the people with disabilities direct their own services.

Fees:

A sliding scale fee system is available.

- Between 18 and 65 years old
- Living in the community
- Capable of directing and supervising their own services
- Employed, preparing for employment, in school, or actively volunteering in the community
- New Jersey resident
