NJ Cooling Centers

Staying Cool in Hot Weather

Throughout the warmer weather, our staff is dedicated to updating our list of cooling centers. We will only include sites that we have received from official authorities such as state, county or municipal offices of emergency management. As we receive this information, it is posted.  If you are not seeing cooling centers open in your county in the list below, it is because we have not yet received the information. Due to the pandemic, many of the public places that we would normally recommend you go to for relief from hot weather are not open or are functioning under limited capacity. As the State starts to loosen restrictions and these public spaces are opened, we advise you to consider visiting libraries, shopping malls, recreation centers, senior centers, municipal buildings and other air-conditioned spaces that are open to the public. These are normally good alternatives in every county if you are looking for a place to cool down.  Learn more about summer heat.
