Special Interests Summer Camps

For parents working outside of their homes, finding child care options that are affordable, safe, and fun is essential. Camp, be it a day or residential program, is one of the alternative options to explore. Below is a list of options that are specifically tailored to those groups or individuals who are looking for a specific focus or type of camp. Financial assistance is offered at most of the locations. Early registration is the best opportunity for this kind of help. This list is by no means exhaustive.

Bergen County

The Performing Arts School Summer Program offers more than six summer programs for all ages and levels, both virtually and in-person. All classes and workshops are taught by master teaching artists with professional credits. 

Burlington County

Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey offers four amazing camp properties. Camp Oak Spring in Somerset County, Camp Kettle Run and Camp Inawendiwin in Burlington County, and Camp Sacajawea in Gloucester County. For details on each program visit their website or call 856.795.1560.

Gloucester County

Hudson County

Mercer County

MCC Camp College offers an alternative to the traditional summer day camps. Campers combine educational skills with recreational activities to create an unforgettable summer experience. Camp college is available for youth ages 6-16. Registration discounts and financial assistance are available to those who qualify. Monmouth County

Kateri Day Camp is offered through Collier Youth Services for children ages 5 - 13. The camp consists of seven weeks of hiking, swimming, playing, crafting, reading, and making friends! Transportation is included. 

Sacajawea Day Camp is an all-girls summer camp operated by Girl Scouts of America. This camp is available for girls ages 3-15 and you do not need to be a girl scout to attend. Morris County

The Kubert School Summer Cartoon Camp offers a children's cartooning summer camp. Kids will be grouped by age and/or experience. Beginners and experienced artists are welcome. 

Ocean County

Amity Acres Day Camp is an all-girls summer day camp operated by Girl Scouts of America. This camp is available for girls ages 3-15 and you do not need to be a girl scout to attend. Union County

Bernice's Place Children's Program is an after-school and summer program for homeless and at-risk children. Bernie's Place provides these children with a safe and supportive place to study, learn, and offers families the benefits of the other programs and services they provide. 

Trailside Nature and Science Center is located in the Watchung Reservation at 452 New Providence Road in Mountainside. Trailside will offer a series of half-day programs in July and August.
