As New Jersey's new USF/LIHEAP Hotline and a comprehensive information and referral service for all health and human service needs, we're dedicated to helping in every way we can. Many individuals and families in our state are facing very difficult financial hardships. NJ 2-1-1 offers hope and help at any time of the day or night.
The following pages were designed to connect New Jersey residents with established utility assistance programs throughout the state. This section of our site begins with a description of the programs and services that are available throughout the state and continues with listings of local contact information and links to associated applications and income eligibility tables where it is applicable.
You are encouraged to dial "2-1-1" / 1.800.510.3102 (LIHEAP) / 1.866.240.1347 (USF), if you need help. We're open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. NJ 2-1-1 call specialists will:
- provide you with the location and hours of your local application agency
- explain how the various home energy assistance programs work
- check on the status of your application once it has been filed
- help you find alternative resources if you don't qualify for the utility assistance programs listed on these pages
Language translation and TTY services are offered to any caller.

search the database of services in your local community using the search term "utility payment assistance" or Chat Live with an experienced community resource specialist. 2-1-1 will help identify with you the best local resources to fit your individual needs during times of financial distress or for life’s everyday situations.
