Summer Camps / Activity Programs

When school ends in June, parents are often interested in helping their children find summer activities that will foster personal growth and happiness. For parents working outside of their homes, finding childcare options that are affordable, safe and fun is even more essential. Camp, be it a day or residential program is one alternative to explore. Activity programs are often available through town recreational departments and local civic groups. Organizations such as the YWCA and YMCA, boys and girls clubs, scouting programs, the Police Athletic League (PAL) and even local libraries may offer viable options.

Research to learn what is available in your area should begin in the early spring for most of the camping programs. It is then that you will be able to participate in open house activities and apply for financial assistance if you are eligible.

Following is a list of options that are typically lower in cost than private camps and will offer summer fun just the same. Financial assistance is available at many of the locations listed below. Early registration offers the best opportunity for this kind of help. This list is by no means exhaustive. Activity programs abound in the summer months.

To find more camps, search our resource database by typing "summer camp" in the search bar at the top of this page. Many of the camps listed in our database are residential and are often located a distance away. Because of this, you will retrieve the best results if you do not limit your search geographically. If you are only interested in camps close to home, limit your search geographically to find the most appropriate resources in your local area.
